My name is Larry Henry and I come from a small village outside Navan in county Meath.Photo

I have worked in the construction industry for almost 40 years. Over 30 of those years have been spent in the specialised area of scaffolding. My scaffolding career started in London in the early eighties and I lived in the UK for over 25 years.

Whilst a scaffolder in London I worked on many large and prestigious contracts including the National Gallery, Heathrow Airport, Aldermaston Nuclear Power station and some high profile Embassies where high quality work and stringent safety procedures went hand in hand.

I qualified as a CITB scaffold instructor in the UK in 1998 and have been involved in training and consultancy since then. Whilst working with major scaffolding companies I attended regular NASC meetings in the UK and was invited on to their training wing (ASITO) which keeps me updated with all the new regulations and guidelines. I recently attended a seminar and was briefed on the new TG20-13 which is now (March 2014) in circulation. This highly acclaimed document will have far reaching effects and bring great benefits to the scaffolding industry especially in the area of design work which can be a major cost to contractors.

As a SOLAS (Fas) approved trainer I have carried out work for major state bodies all over Ireland, including SOLAS, ESB, Irish Rail, CIF, NIE, and Veolia Water.

As scaffold training is a specialist area I have also worked for all the major training companies in Ireland including Safety Solutions, Shorcontrol, CMSE, HSS, Holland Safety, and National Training Solutions in Navan.
